This policy covers propertiesdonerightct.com and how we handle information from people who contact us, ask for a quote, or hire us. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What we collect

When you fill out a form

The form on this site asks for exactly five things:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • What work you need
  • Your town

We also record which page you submitted from and the date and time, so we know where the request came from.

When you become a customer

We collect what the job requires. The property address, details and measurements of the work, photos of the site, and the record of our conversations by phone, text and email.

Payments

If you pay by card, the card details go straight to our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.

Automatically

Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, browser type and which pages were requested. That is ordinary hosting activity. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Why we collect it

To answer you. To price the work. To schedule and carry out the job. To invoice you. To keep the records a licensed contractor is required to keep. And to follow up afterwards.

Calls, texts and email

When you give us your phone number, you are agreeing that we can call and text you about your project, your quote, your schedule and your invoice. Message frequency depends on the job. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Stopping texts does not stop us calling you about work already underway. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

If you are an existing customer, we may contact you about work we have done, seasonal reminders, and requests for a review. You can opt out at any time and we will honour it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We never have and we are not going to.

A small number of service providers handle data on our behalf so the business can run:

  • Our customer records and messaging system
  • Our web host and the plugins that run this site
  • Our payment processor
  • Our email provider

We also share information where the work requires it or the law demands it. With your town or building department for permits. With the subcontractors on your specific job. With our insurer if there is a claim.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third party tracking cookies. The only cookies here are the functional ones WordPress and our caching plugin set so the site works.

If that ever changes and we add analytics or advertising, we will update this page and the date at the top.

How long we keep it

  • Quotes and enquiries: three years.
  • Customer and job records, including contracts, invoices and photos: at least seven years. Tax and contractor record keeping requires it, and warranty questions come up years later.

Your choices

Ask what we hold about you and we will tell you. Ask us to correct it and we will. Ask us to delete it and we will, except where we are required to keep it, such as a signed contract, an invoice, or a warranty record.

Connecticut residents have rights under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for targeted advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above.

Security

We use reputable providers, limit who on our side can see your records, and do not keep card details. No system is perfectly secure, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Children

This site is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Photographs of our work

We photograph the work we do, before, during and after. Those photographs are ours. We use them in our portfolio, on this site, in advertising, and on social media. We do not ask for permission job by job.

We do not publish street addresses.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we change the date at the top of this page.
